We understand that shopping can be taxing. “Is this healthy for my family?” “Isn’t this kind of food supposed to be unhealthy for me?” Believe it or not, there are lots of foods that are great for your oral health. Here are a few snacks you don’t have to get tense about:
-Almonds. Almonds contain teeth-fortifying vitamins, so they’re a good snack to strengthen your pearly whites on the go.
-Apples: To chew an apple, you develop a lot of saliva, and that spit washes out bacteria and acids from your oral cavity.
-Carrots. Carrots increase saliva production (which battles cavity-causing bacteria), and they’re lower in sugar than many other munchable snacks.
-Celery. With its tough, stringy structure, celery scrapes away bacteria and food remnants like toothbrushes do.
-Cheese. Cheese naturally lowers the acidity in your mouth, helping to hold off cavity-causing bacteria.
-Strawberries. Strawberries have malic acids, which can be a good whitener for your enamel. (But ensure to brush after eating them!)
-Leafy greens. Leafy greens are full of minerals and vitamins that support oral health, such as gum-enhancing folic acid.
-Water. By drinking water, you’ll rinse away debris and bacteria from your oral cavity.
-Yogurt. Probiotics in yogurt push out hurtful bacteria from your gums. (Opt for yogurts without added sugars.)
