Have you recently restored your smile with a dental implant in Ottawa, Ontario? If so, then it’s time to take good care of your new restoration!
Dental implants are strong, successful, and reliable products, but that’s only the case if you properly care for them each day. So, to help you keep your dental implant in tip-top shape, our Skyline Dental Associates team recommends doing the following things:
-Brush: Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Brush for two minutes each time and make sure you remove as much plaque and harmful particles as possible from your smile.
-Floss: Floss your teeth at least once a day with a flossing product of your choice. Flossing will help you remove the plaque from your teeth and keep your dental implant, teeth, and gums out of harm’s way.
-Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. Doing so will complete the cleaning job and will also give you pristine breath. Talk to your dentist and ask for advice on the best rinse to use for your implant.
-Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and exam. These appointments are vital if you want to maintain a strong and successful implant. The cleaning and exam will eliminate the plaque from your smile and will allow your dentist to make sure everything is in tip-top condition.
